Maternity Hospital

Dear future mother,

childbirth is one of the most important milestones in your life. It is the moment when you become a mother, and life after it is always associated with changes that you cannot always fully prepare for. It is our pleasure to accompany you through this period and what precedes and follows it. To prepare you for childbirth so that you can go through it in the best possible condition. Optimally prepared for everything thanks to our prenatal courses, care and advice in the maternity hospital. At the same time, our trained staff and breastfeeding consultant will prepare you as best as possible for the breastfeeding period.

Our main goal is for the birth to take place without interventions, as naturally as possible, according to your wishes and ideas. We would like to make you feel at home in the safe environment of our maternity hospital, where you will receive professional help immediately if the situation requires it. We all wish that you and your baby will be healthy after the birth. In our facility, we conduct deliveries "lege artis", which means according to the latest knowledge of science and medicine and according to the recommended procedures of professional societies and also according to the conditions set by internal regulations.

The course of the birth is governed by your wishes and we will not alter the birth process in any way, unless you wish otherwise. The father can be present before, during and after the birth. Another person close to you can accompany you before and during the birth. At the maternity hospital, we have newly renovated delivery rooms that are comfortably equipped and provide you with full privacy and a relaxation zone. During childbirth, you can use various means to relieve pain, such as warm perineal compress, shower, Rebozo technique, aromatherapy, or music therapy. You can choose the position, both in the first stage of labour and during the birth. Bonding and late ligation of the umbilical cord are allowed as a routine. On the contrary, we avoid routine episiotomy. We do not routinely administer enemas or shave private parts unless you insist on it.

In our maternity hospital, we focus attention on minimal separation between mother and child, even after a caesarean section. We try to get you and your baby together as soon as possible. The rooms in which you will be accommodated after the birth have been renovated and equipped with private sanitary facilities. Most of the rooms are single rooms. Where possible with regard to the number of women in the department, we try to occupy double rooms with only one mother after giving birth.

We look forward to seeing you and wish you much joy and happiness.

MUDr. Petr Kolek
Chief of Medicine of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
