Conditions for Providing Medical Care to Foreigners and Self-Payers  in TUH

Emergency Care

Every patient is entitled to emergency medical treatment regardless of nationality or insurance type.

General Insurance Company of The Czech Republic

Emergency care does not replace general practitioner services.

The scope of other medical care may vary according to the patient's health or commercial insurans.


Conditions for Providing Medical Care to Foreigners and Self-Payers  in TUH

1) Foreigners included in the Czech public health system

Conditions:

  • Regulatory fees apply
  • No advance payment is required
  • Care is provided to the same extent as for Czech citizens
  • Without valid Czech insurance, the patient is treated as a self-payer
  • Administrative verification is charged according to the TUH price list
  • The patient must present an identity document
  • EHIC (Blue or Green Card)
  • Contact details

2) Foreigners not insured in the Czech system but entitled to EHIC/S2C

Patient who does not have public health insurance in the Czech health system, residents of the Czech Republik, residents of EU countries, or residents of other countries where the Czech Republic has concluded contractual conditions for treating its citizens (Countries of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, etc.)

The patient must present:

  • An identity document
  • EHIC or a replacement certificate, or S2
  • Contact details

Health Insurance Bureau

  • Entitled to care within the scope defined by the general Czech health insurance company
  • Regulatory fees apply
  • Without documents, the patient is treated as a self-payer
  • Administrative checks are charged according to the TUH price list

3) Patients from non-listed countries
Patients without insurance
Patients exceeding coverage

The patient must present:

  • An identity document
  • Contact details

If the patient’s condition allows, an advance of 5 000 CZK is required before treatment.
100% prepayment for planned procedures.
After billing, the patient pays any outstanding balance or receives a refund.

  • Regulatory fees do not apply
  • Administrative services are charged according to the TUH price list.

4) Clients of commercial health insurance companies

The patient must present:

  • An identity document
  • Proof of commercial health insurance

Conditions:

  • Care is provided within the scope of the insurance contract
  • A guarantee letter from the insurance company is required before treatment, without it, the patient is treated as a self-payer (see point 3)
