Department of Pediatric Neurology

Characteristics

The department is one of the few clinics specialized in neuropediatrics in the Czech Republic. The most frequent diagnoses seen in our patients include epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, and cerebral palsy. Besides, we focus on neuromuscular disorders, leukodystrophies, and other less common conditions. The department has the status of a specialized center for epileptology and epileptosurgery and a center for cerebral palsy treatment. The clinic serves as an educational and training center of Pediatric Neurology Postgraduate Medical School.

The department with 30 beds has a separate outpatient clinic. It is equipped with modern diagnostic technology enabling complete EEG, EMG, EP and neurosonographic examinations. Child psychologists and physiotherapists complement the range of diagnostic and therapeutic options available.

Education

The department serves as postgraduate training center in child neurology as well as in epileptology, neurosonography and electroencephalography, and is involved in research grant projects and clinical trials.
