Characteristics

Clinic of Internal Medicine 3rd Faculty of Medicine Charles University and Thomayer University Hospital is a general internal medicine facility focused on gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical nutrition. The Clinic runs both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs, and are accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and the Czech Medical Chamber for internal medicine specialties and hepatogastroenterology. The Clinic comprises a standard acute care ward, an intensive care unit (ICU) and an outpatient unit. The whole clinic underwent reconstruction and meets all current mandatory sanitary requirements as well as today´s aesthetic standards for medical institutions.

We perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures as well as ultrasound-based diagnostic procedure. Our clinic offers comprehensive preventive and therapeutic care to patients with a wide range of internal medical conditions and highly specialized care in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical nutrition. By adopting a professional as well as personalized approach, we attain high levels of quality medical care and patient satisfaction.

Education

Clinic of Internal Medicine 3rd Faculty of Medicine Charles University and Thomayer University Hospital provides both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in the fields of internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical nutrition. It is accredited to provide training and has been licensed for a wide variety of endoscopic methods and abdominal ultrasound. The department also helps to facilitate the postgraduate training of nurses with regard to endoscopic techniques.

Research

The main lines of research carried out at the Clinic cover colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and nutrition support therapy. The Clinic participates in Czech and international grant-funded projects and studies.
